Mystic Margarita, thank you for awarding me the Honest Blogger Award. Its truly an honur. Thank you.

Blogging is truly a communication and technological revolution. Where else would you find people pouring their hearts out, writing about stuff that you wouldn't have spoken to anybody about, connecting with strangers all over the world. When I started this blog I did not know what I wanted to write about. And I was too involved with my work to go beyond the namkaran of my blog. and then I poured my heart out, simply because I couldn't bottle up my emotions and feelings any longer. I had to get it out of my system. This blog became my therapy and it has helped me a lot. Looking at my old posts I can see the change in me and my attitude.

I write without pretense, and all the blogs I know are the same. They may not write about their life, but they are honest and straightforward nonetheless. And most have already recieved this award, so all my friends who read me who have not recieved this award, consider yourself awarded.

In a lighter vein...

Hi Everybody,

I'm the imp and this is a guest post on my mothers blog. I wanted to know why she spends so much time on the stupid laptop that I'm not allowed to touch, but whose scroll mouse I totally love. My mum is so serious, she needs to take things lightly, I don't know why she keeps getting harassed for no reason. I'm growing up, I'm naturally curios and naturally naughty. So what if I,

1. Love to apply powder to the bed and the floor. Thank god for the poor quality checks at the manufacturing plant, else the powder would not come out with the seal on.
2. Love to apply cream, on everybody's face and hands. And of course the floor and furniture also.
3. I'm very good at sweeping, dusting and swabbing. But my mum and nani don't let me. They always disturb me when I take the broom from the maid and don't let her sweep the floor.
4. I love to rip apart my mum's wallet. It is in tatters, the clip is broken and its absolutely amazing when I hold it upside down and everything falls down.
5. I love to do everything on my own, except sleeping.
6. My nani is very upset that I have spoiled her precious kitchen cabinets. Since I couldn't open them, I would keep playing with teh knobs, and now they are so loose and one has fallen off and cant be opened. The best part I learned to open the cabinets and take out everything :D
7. I can finally open the fridge too, cant wait to empty out everything, but right now its just fun to shut the door real hard. I hope mum does not find that key she was looking for to lock the fridge.
8. Sleep is such a total waste of time. I cant wait to start day care, dunno why mum is taking so long to decide. Total spoiler.
9. Thank God for the mudiya's that nani keeps at home, else how would I climb to get my creams and powders. So now mum keeps them at the very end of the table, but pretty soon I will reach there too..
10. My mum's mobile is my own. Nobody else can receive calls or make them, or sms. Mum is a sweetheart, she downloaded the Pappu dance number so that I can listen to it all the time. Too bad for her its also her ringing tone, I'm sure she is going to change it soon.
11. Shah Rukh Khan is the ultimate.
12. I like to listen and watch only the songs and no boring numbers for me, they have to be the latest numbers. The teddy's on 9xM are too cute.
13. Every paper has to be read by me first. Every book that mum brings from the library has to be shown to me first.
14. Every time my nana or mama come home, I have to have to get a ride in the car, through the drive way, till they park it for the night.
15. I have to wave goodbye to them from the gate. Else I do not eat and get very very upset.
16. No clips, pins or rubber bands for my hair. And my mum is not cutting my hair ever again! She does not pin up her hair so why should I?
17. I love to walk barefoot all around especially outside and land up getting bit by various insects and rashes, yet as my mum wonders when will I ever learn.
18. I hate to stop playing to go for a bath and create a huge ruckus when I have to get out also :P
19. When we go out, I love to try the loos there. Okay, so one time I went 3 times in a span of 15 min, just so I could check out the bathroom. It was a new place. And for no reason mum just lost her temper and refused to take me again. Thank god for nana, he is such a doll, can twist him around my finger..(even though he calls me miss drama)
20. I don't like to eat the same food twice in a week. I want something new, if momma cant give it to me, then I'd rather go hungry than eat the same drabby stuff.
21. I love to look at snaps, esp the old B&W ones, my nani has kept them in such good condition, she is worried that I will spoil them as They are my property now and nobody has the right to touch them or any of the other old snaps.

phew! I'm tired. And I'm going to sleep now. And if there is something I have forgotten I'm sure my mum will let you all know.

Please tell momma to take a chill pill! Please .... Pretty please..

Until next time
Bye everybody.

What does Gandhi mean to you?

To me he is the reason we have our Independence, he is he reason we are a democratic country, he is the reason we are free, free to live the way we want, free to think and to voice our thoughts. He is not called Father of our Nation for nothing.

If he did not speak up, we would still be living under oppression by the British. Just think how our life would have turned out?

And would we be able to have Barbecue and Beer? Definitely not a chance.

I came across this ad through India Uncut, listed at Ads of the World

This ad makes no sense to me.

Gandhi was a vegan, he did not drink. And if had not spoken up, would we be a free country still? I hold him in really high esteem and this ad has me offended.

The copy is really stupid. First you say "Life is easier if you don't speak up" and then say "debate" How is one supposed to debate if you do not speak?

This campaign is insensitive, lacks understanding, plain stupid and highly irresponsible.

Take a look and if anyone can enlighten me with a different point of view, please do.

Edited to add: Denmark's leading newspaper is promoting debate over public issues. Turns out they have used Nelson Mandela and Dalai Lama. I still think the Ads have failed to bring out the message. Source

In the name of GOD??!!

Why? Which faith advocates that you need to kill in the name of god? Killing in the name of Allah??? These terrorists are bringing a bad name to all Muslims and human kind. And they rejoice and celebrate at the number of people killed?

Its terrifying, calling checking friends and relatives who live in Delhi, Bombay, Bangalore, Ahmadabad and now Delhi. Checking for blogs posts from bloggers who live in these cities, praying they are OK, but not all are well. There are countless whom I do not know, who are affected. And the media is just so insensitive. When will they every learn. Looking at half dead people being carried away was just too much for me. I have stopped watching news channels. Just catch up on the net. I'm not strong enough to view those gruesome images glorified by the news channels. Have we learned to live with terror that it does not shock and numb us?

Will there be no end to this mindless massacre? There is just no excuse for it. Where does it say that you need to avenge, where does it say that you need to kill to scare, where does it say that hatred is valid? Why this hatred?

So here I am

this is me
and there is no where else on earth I'd rather be

Its Official. I'm now a divorced single mum. I prefer Single Mum, but heck it feels great. Free, relaxed and can now think of moving on with my life.

I was right except it was on mutual grounds with no support. Else it would have taken years and I can tolerate being slandered but I draw the line when it comes to my parents.

So here I am clubbing both my blogs. Although it has been a long time since I posted there. And this blog is closer to my heart. And thanks to Vin and Blogger Help the merger was successful.

To new Beginnings...

Life's little pleasures

15 days old and lactose intolerant. 3 months and gluten intolerant. Needless to say I was shattered. I love chocolates, cakes, souffles, roti's and parathas. And my daughter being deprived of it, drove me crazy. I stayed away from all milk and wheat products. And my kiddo has not tasted them either. But she would see the Roti's and Parathas being cooked. She just loves to see what is cooking over the gas.

So my kiddo is on a rice and other flour diet. And she does get bored of eating rice only. So I had our cook prepare Rice Flour Phulkas. She was just so thrilled to be eating "paratha" and not roti, the same rolling of the dough, cooking on the pan as the wheat parathas. The excitement, thrill and pure joy on her face just touched my heart. She always loves to eat what is on the table. Does not like to eat different from what we are eating. These days meal times are fun, esp from my plate.
Even the cake she eats are rice flour cakes, they taste good, but heck it can not be made at home.

All of us are slaves to our taste. Even when we are eating healthy, less oil food, if it is bland or not as per our taste, we just cant eat it; can we? Its the same with kids too, irrespective of their age.

Everyday I pray and hope that her tolerance level goes down as she grows older, just so she can enjoy the ice creams and chocolates. And I want to bake her a cake so bad.

Resurrection .... Again..

Hopefully this time it is for keeps...touch wood and fingers crossed.

Like mentioned our hardware guy said that our laptop had a motherboard problem which needed to be replaced. He sent our laptop to his counterparts in Bangalore and the verdict was the same. "there is something wrong with the MB and needs to be replaced" They had the HP service center check it too. And the verdict was the same. Only thing was we did not know what was wrong.

So while my bro and I are discussing the further course of action, whether we buy a MB for a really low price9if that is possible) or we go in for a brand new comp, I find a comment and an email from 2 guys claiming to be from HP. Figuring I have nothing to loose in calling them, I speak with Mr. Rajesh Shah, the Customer Support Manager for Karnataka. He puts us on to the Tech head Mr. Venkat in Bangalore. A week later my bro drops the laptop with the HP service center. In 2 working days it is ready. Turns out that a BIOS chip in the MB was faulty. The overriding software didn't work either, so the MB had to be replaced. The HP guys were also kind enough to replace the LCD panel as it got damaged during its transit to Bangalore and Mysore ( had a helluva lot scratches). And I must say that it was a quick turn around from the HP Service center. They kept in touch with us, updating us and the service was simply exceptional.

Turns out HP has a HP Care pack for those HP customers who are already under warranty to get an extended warranty of 2-3 years by paying approx Rs.7000/-. Unfortunately the HP dealer (KBM on MG road) did not infirm us of the same. So we have lost out on it as its been more that 3 months since the warranty expired. Else one has to pay Rs. 5000/- a year for the AMC. It would be great if they consider us eligible for it, and all those guys who have HP systems, speak with your dealers to get this. It is a very good deal.

Thank You HP and especially Rajesh, Venkat and Jayaprakash the tech support guy who handled our system, Haris Hadiery the Customer Experience Manager for HP who emailed me and also the kind soul who forwarded my post to the HP people. If it hadn't been for it, I would have had to buy a new system.
